A delegation of 10 surgeons representing prominent medical institutions of Uzbekistan visited the Central Customs Hospital as part of a professional exchange visit and participated in a series of masterclasses.
The visit began with an official meeting between the Uzbek delegation and the leadership of the Central Customs Hospital. The meeting was attended by the Head of the Hospital – Chief Physician, Doctor of Medical Sciences Dr. Bəxtiyar Musayev, Deputy Head Nabil Seyidov, General Surgeon of the General Surgery Department, Doctor of Medical Sciences Dr. Aynur Safiyeva, Head of the Department of General Surgery at the Urgench branch of the Tashkent Medical Academy, Dilshad Aminovich Sanaev, proctologist of the 1st Republican Clinical Hospital in Tashkent, AbdusandShermatov, as well as other official representatives from Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, Chief Physician Dr. Bəxtiyar Musayev provided detailed information about the activities of the Central Customs Hospital, the innovative technologies applied in medical practice, international cooperation projects, and the hospital’s achievements in providing high-quality healthcare services. Among the notable accomplishments, he highlighted Azerbaijan’s first-ever liver transplant from a deceased donor to a living recipient, successfully performed in February 2025.
Dr. Musayev emphasized that the hospital provides high-level medical services in various specialties such as cardiology, interventional cardiology, general and laparoscopic surgery, urology, traumatology, gynecology, radiology, pediatrics, and others. The hospital also maintains close collaboration with leading medical institutions and universities around the world.
As part of the visit, the Uzbek surgeons took part in masterclasses led by Dr. Aynur Safiyeva. They observed several surgical procedures performed using modern methods and technologies and received comprehensive information about the surgical interventions and patient care approaches. The innovative techniques and clinical methods demonstrated during the surgeries drew particular interest from the participants.
These practical and theoretical sessions contributed significantly to strengthening scientific and professional cooperation between the medical communities of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, laying a solid foundation for the implementation of future joint projects.
